For project 2 I think I accomplished what I wanted to do. I wanted to make a functioning website that resembled a site that I would actually purchase something on. There were a few extra effects I would have liked to work into the site but I still have trouble figuring out what everything means on jQuery.
Now that I’m done with the site I’m not in love with the whole aesthetic of the site, I feel like the home page doesn’t fit in as well with the other pages. I like the fading effect, the dark to light effect, but I don’t like the overall design of it. I feel like it clashes with the other pages.
Overall I think I did a good job making a functioning webpage and I think it would pass as a page someone would actually buy a product on.
There’s still some things I didn’t get done that I wanted to but overall I feel like it’s a functioning site…

So far I’m still adding a few details to the home page; I want to make the background “light up” on hover. I’m still not sure about the background image.
For the info page I’m mostly done. I can’t decide if I want to get rid of the star on the right or not, so if I do I’ll move everything over a bit.
I’m pretty much done with the coding for the products page I just need to link it to the purchase page when you click on the lanterns.
I haven’t started the purchase page yet, it will mostly be text with some jQuery effects if I can get them to work.
Project 1 went fairly well. I wanted to get a lot more done with the website but I ran out of time. I didn’t manage my time as well as I should have so I’m going to try to do that more for this next project. I wanted to add a lot of transitions effects but I spent a lot of time working on the illustrations instead so that’s what took me most of my time. I’m pretty happy with the transitions I got to work for the scrolling, like having the items fade in and scroll in. I had some problems with the skrollr because the items coming in from the side showed up before scrolling down and I tried to fix it with “overflow: hidden” but it didn’t work because then I couldn’t scroll down the page at all. I was able to get the hover sparkle effects to work which also took me a while so I was happy with that result.
For my website review I chose the website for the Composure Collection. It’s kind of a pointless product… but the website for it is really nice in my opinion.
I like the integration of videos showing the product in use in the page. They show it from multiple angles and the different ways you can set it up which is nice for a product if you can’t look at it at the store. I also really like the section that you can hover over and items show up on the stands and you can add it to the cart from there.
It has a nice grid systems in use, it has three column, two columns, and one column which gives it a nice organization. I also like that they included the social media links and some info about their company in general at the end.
Here’s the basic design for my pages. I’m hoping to add in a few plug ins to make it more exciting.
