Website Review

Hello! for my website/product review, I chose AIAIAI. The product they are trying to sell are headphones, and some accessories that complement the headphones. The website itself is very interactive, not too much though, which is really awesome! The way the site is constructed reflects the high energy of music making. The type choices are really great. It communicates playfulness, but also modern.

Hi-res images are used to display the products and their use of the off-center grid makes the site really dynamic. The site also uses one pop of color. Blue! It’s an electric blue that gives off an energetic vibe, perfect to get people excited. It communicates the experience by letting viewers/visitors/customers build their own headphones. When you set off to build your own, it also gives you technical information about the bass or treble power, it also has specs information, such as frequency response and sound pressure level.

The character of the product is energetic, technical, detailed and quality/professional. I think the site is definitely meeting it’s objectives. It appeals to those who are interested or aspiring to make music and professionals (DJs, etc). The site also does a wonderful job in building more excitement by including real musicians, DJs and artists that are using this product into the site. If I was a musician, I would definitely be excited and inspired to buy this product.

Project 1 Reflection + Project 2 Comps

Project 1 Thoughts

I had big dreams for project 1, but I couldn’t get some of the effects to work. Overall though, I am happy with what I achieved. I managed to get the pages to look like my comps, and it was a lot quicker writing the css codes compared to last term. When something doesn’t look right, instead of guessing which tag I need to fix, I can now narrow it down to a couple possibilities.

I think I was having trouble in getting the plugins and the curtain effects to work because I didn’t have a full grasp of jQuery. I think I need to just do more research on how to get things working and trouble shooting as well as revisit the code academy jQuery lessons. After the first project however, I understand the data pixels (how to create a curtain effect) better, than when I started the project. But I do really want to work on getting the rest of the plugins to work, because I want this project to be in my portfolio.
