The Wacom site is selling the Cintiq tablet as high end option for the most demanding graphic artists in the professional world. The most impressive selling point on the site is the Cintiq’s ability to draw directly on to the tablet screen as opposed to drawing on the black Intuos tablet while looking up at our monitor. I have done this myself and sometimes it can feel a little awkward drawing on a tablet while looking at the screen. The site shows a video of a guy drawing directly on the screen just as if you would with paper and pen, it looks so easy. Expensive, but so very intuitive. Another selling point they convey is the ability to take it with you anywhere. Because the Cintiq is an all in one tablet, with the screen built into the tablet you can literally take it with you exactly how you would a laptop.
The value of the product is communicated nicely with a combination of images of the product as well as a small amount of text to explain whatever it is they want you to look at. The images are large and are supported by smaller zoomed in angles for a more detailed experience. They have a video/demo that is really helpful in showing the consumer how easy it is to use and how portable the Cintiq really is. The site also uses icons to make it easier for you to see how everything works and highlight its most significant features.
The character of the product is colorful, artistic, and fun. I think the site captures this by using a lot of color in the images of the product they use. They do a nice job of showing people using the product and creating artwork themselves so that you can imagine doing it yourself. Looking at other people drawing and creating things so easily on the Cintiq makes me want to buy one, if it didn’t cost $1999.00!
I definitely think the site is meeting it’s objectives. The only thing I would’ve liked to have seen was a video with people creating art on the Cintiq with music playing. If you have seen the new Adobe Photoshop 25 Year Anniversary commercial you know how effective this can be from a marketing standpoint.
